We believe that aligning expectations can help provide security and job satisfaction in day-to-day life. That's why we design onboarding programmes for our new staff members to give them a comprehensive look at AAU both as an organisation and as a workplace. In order to ensure a working environment with good communication, new staff members are invited to meet one-on-one with relevant colleagues and for ongoing talks with their immediate superior. 

International staff members often have special questions and challenges. Thus, the university’s International Staff Unit assists and advises international staff members both before and after they arrive in Denmark

As a university, we have an ingrained respect for knowledge and of course take pride in ensuring our staff members have the opportunity to develop and improve themselves, including through AAU Competence Development, special mentoring initiatives, etc.

When it comes to research, all TECH departments have fundraisers who assist researchers in obtaining funding for projects, including advice on private and public funding sources, the formalities of applications, reviewing and evaluating applications, etc. These local fundraisers work closely with the central AAU unit Fundraising and Project Management which has extensive expertise in advising and supporting research environments throughout the university. 

Once projects become a reality, legal assistance is available from Grants & Contracts which assists with advice, protects the interests of researchers and the university, and ensures that projects comply with legislation.

Our researchers and students work with real-life issues. The problem-oriented approach and close cooperation with the business community and public institutions are the cornerstone of our work. Learn more about problem-based learning (PBL).

We are clear about the importance of creating good social conditions for our staff. AAU thus offers a number of options such as the university's art association Skråningen, the university’s annual celebration for staff and students, as well as various sporting events like the annual DHL relay race where hundreds of AAU folks meet to exercise and spend time together.
