Tech Funding Strategy
TECH’s funding strategy is designed to support competitive research funding and strategic partnerships in support of long-term research excellence and societal impact. At its core, the strategy focuses on positioning TECH as a strong and visible research actor at the European level, while simultaneously strengthening researchers’ capacity to navigate and succeed in complex funding landscapes. Emphasis is placed on EU funding - especially collaborative Horizon Europe projects and ERC grants - alongside private foundations and emerging Danish public funding opportunities aligned with strategic priorities. This balanced approach ensures both long-term sustainability and flexibility across different career stages and research environments.
Strategic international partnerships form a cornerstone of TECH’s funding strategy. By establishing and strengthening collaborations with leading universities and research environments, TECH enhances its ability to participate in strong EU consortia, attract international talent, and contribute to high-impact research agendas.
These partnerships support both collaborative project funding and broader institutional goals related to recruitment, career development, and research excellence.
Strategic Objectives
The overall objective of TECH’s funding strategy is to increase the quality, volume, and strategic relevance of external funding by aligning funding activities with academic priorities, societal challenges, and institutional strengths. This includes supporting the development of world-class research groups, creating strong environments for research careers, and increasing TECH’s impact on key societal agendas.
To achieve this, the strategy prioritizes:
- Strengthened competitiveness in EU funding, particularly Horizon Europe and ERC
- Support for emerging and established research leaders
- Strategic international partnerships that enhance consortium-building and long-term positioning
- Improved internal support structures that make the funding landscape more accessible and manageable for researchers
These objectives are pursued through targeted initiatives and close coordination between TECH, departments, and central support functions.
