A researcher in a league of his own and an extremely worthy recipient of the honorary doctorate at Aalborg University – glowing words in the recommendation of Professor Thomas Parisini for the honorary doctorate at Aalborg University.

A string of scientific contributions

Thomas Parisini holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. He is considered to be one of the world's most influential researchers in his field, control theory. He works with system principles that enable effective understanding, control and regulation of physical systems without human intervention.

His CV attests to numerous scientific contributions, including 270 scientific publications (peer reviewed) and about 5700 citations. He has also received a number of awards for his scientific work, including the "2014 Outstanding Paper Award of the IFAC Journal of Process Control," the "Outstanding Paper Award of the IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks” and the "2007 IEEE Distinguished Member Award." Thomas Parisini is an IEEE and IFAC fellow.

Deeply committed to his field

In scientific circles, Thomas Parisini enjoys great international recognition for his commitment. He is a major actor in academic societies like the IEEE Control Systems Society and the IFAC (International Federation of Automatic Control). He is also the editor of some of the most prestigious journals in his field. Furthermore, he has left his mark on numerous high-profile academic conferences and was, for example, Editorial Board Chair at the ECC Conference (European Control Conference) held in Aalborg in 2016, and he is general co-chair for CCTA18 that Aalborg University is holding in Copenhagen this summer.

Thomas Parisini is affiliated with the British Imperial College where he is Director of Research in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering.

Lecture at AAU
